No Guesses, No Stresses: Battery Service at Ron Westphal Chevrolet

Stress-Free Car Batteries

There is nothing quite like the 'click-click-click' of a dead battery to ruin your morning-especially when you're already running late and it's ten below zero outside. Your first thought is usually: 'Am I stuck here, and how much is this gonna set me back?'

If you're stranded in your driveway right now, give us a shout at 630-898-9630. Tell us what's going on and we'll help you figure out the best way to get your car moving and over to the shop.

At Ron Westphal Chevrolet, we believe in transparent pricing and honest answers. Once you get the car here, we'll run a full battery health test to see if it just needs a deep charge or if it's finally time for a replacement. No guesses and no pressure-just the help you need to get back on the road with a battery that's actually built to handle an Illinois winter.

Warranties Built for Illinois Winters

A battery is an investment in your morning routine. We use ACDelco batteries because they are engineered to start your engine when it's ten below zero in Aurora. But more than that, they come with a "no-hassle" replacement warranty. If your battery fails within the warranty window, we don't just "pro-rate" it-we replace it.

Battery LineReplacement WarrantyWhy Choose This?
ACDelco Gold36 or 42 MonthsOur best battery. High cold-cranking amps for heavy-duty winter starts.
ACDelco Silver18 or 24 MonthsGreat value and reliable performance for everyday driving.

The "DIY" Option: We'll Help You Do It Yourself

We know a lot of our neighbors are handy with a wrench. If you've got the tools and just need the right part, you don't have to wait for a service appointment.

  • Genuine Parts at the Counter: You can swing by our Parts Department and pick up the exact ACDelco battery your Chevy was born with. No "universal fit" guesses-just the right battery with the right cranking amps.

  • We'll Talk You Through It: Not sure where the battery hold-down is or how to handle the sensor on the terminal? Just ask. Our team can walk you through the install steps or give you a heads-up on any specific "tricks" for your year and model.

  • Safety First: If you're doing the swap at home, remember to always disconnect the Negative (Black) cable first and reconnect it last.

  • Bring Us the Old One: Once you're finished, bring your old battery back to us. We'll handle the core charge and make sure it's recycled safely and legally.

Why Choose GM Batteries

Here's the best part: because these are Genuine GM and ACDelco warranties, they are honored at any GM dealer in the country. If you're visiting family out of state or on a road trip and your battery gives up, you're covered. You won't find that kind of backup at a local parts store.

Battery Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of battery does my car actually need?

The right battery depends on your vehicle's "BCI Group Size"-which is basically a technical way of saying the physical size of the battery and where the terminals are located. If you aren't sure, don't guess. You can check your owner's manual, or simply give us a shout. We'll look up your VIN and tell you exactly what fits, whether you're driving a Spark or a Silverado.

What is the difference between an AGM and a Flooded battery?

  • Flooded (Wet Cell): These are the traditional batteries we've used for decades. They are cost-effective and reliable.

  • AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat): These are the "powerhouses." They use fiberglass mats to hold the electrolyte, making them spill-proof and much more resistant to vibration. They typically last twice as long as conventional batteries and are required for newer vehicles with "Auto Start-Stop" technology.

Can I install my own battery at home?

Absolutely. If you're mechanical and want to handle it yourself, you can buy the battery directly from our parts counter. We'll even walk you through the process-like reminding you to always disconnect the Negative (Black) cable first and reconnect it last to avoid sparks. If you get stuck, we're just a phone call away.

How do I safely dispose of my old battery?

Don't just throw it in the trash-it's hazardous waste. When you buy a new battery from us, we take your old one as a "core exchange." We'll handle the recycling for you so it's done safely and legally, and you'll save on the "core charge" fee in the process.

Does the cold really "kill" batteries?

It's a bit of a myth! Summer heat actually does the damage by evaporating the internal liquids. However, the winter cold is when you notice it, because your engine oil gets thick and your battery has to work twice as hard to turn the engine over. If your battery survived a hot July, we should test it in October before the first Aurora freeze hits.

Technical Specs: The GM Advantage

  • 100% Pressure Tested: Every ACDelco battery we sell is pressure-tested against leaks before it ever reaches our shelves.

  • Maintenance-Free: No more adding water or messing with acid. Our Gold and Silver lines are sealed for life.

  • Corrosion Resistant: Our terminals are designed to resist that "white crusty" buildup that steals your starting power.
