CHEVROLET OFFERS MORE MODELS WITH 30 MPG HWY! Making a difference in our environment is as simple as driving a more fuel-efficient vehicle. That's why Chevy currently offers eight models with an EPA estimated 30 MPG highway or better.(1) Aveo Sedan, Aveo5, Cobalt XFE Sedan, Cobalt XFE coupe, Malibu Hybrid, and select models of Malibu, HHR, and HHR Panel all fall into the 30 MPG or better club. But it's not just about cars. Chevy Silverado offers the best V8 fuel economy of any full-size pickup,(2) and the full-size Tahoe SUV delivers best-in-class fuel economy.(3) New technology like Chevy's Active Fuel Management™ has played a role in achieving greater fuel economy. Active Fuel Management™ deactivates half the engine cylinders when they are not needed and seamlessly reactivates them when you need the extra power. And there's more! Every 2008 Chevy car, half-ton truck and SUV is equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitor that automatically alerts you when your tire pressure is low. Properly inflated tires can improve gas mileage by up to 3%.(4) Seems small, but if everyone in the U.S. had properly inflated tires, we could save millions of gallons of gas each year. Chevy's fuel efficient Cobalt is sipping gas a little more sparingly these days, thanks to some clever engineering and continued dedication to saving drivers cash at the pump. - Cobalt XFE Sedan has better highway fuel economy than the comparably equipped Toyota Corolla(5)— with an EPA estimated MPG 37 highway.
As a result of this dedicated engineering crew, all newly produced Cobalt LS and 1LT Coupes and Sedans with manual transmissions will wear a special XFE (Extended Fuel Economy) badge — and for good reason. Cobalt XFE Coupe has the best standard highway fuel economy in its class,(1) and Cobalt XFE Sedan has better highway fuel economy than the comparably equipped 2009 Toyota Corolla(2) — with an EPA estimated MPG 37 highway. Both models come equipped with a standard five-speed manual transmission, 2.2L engine and all-season tires. The All New 2008 Chevrolet Malibu Sips Gas. - ECOTEC 2.4L DOHC four-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and a four-speed automatic transmission has an EPA estimated MPG 22 city, 30 highway (standard on LS and LT models)
- The Malibu Hybrid(6) comes with a standard ECOTEC 2.4L DOHC four-cylinder Hybrid engine with Variable Valve Timing (VVT) and four-speed automatic Hybrid transmission that has an EPA estimated MPG 24 city, 32 highway
- The Chevrolet Malibu with available 6-speed automatic transmission is rated 33 MPG highway when combined with the Ecotec 2.4 DOHC four cylinder engine and provides 172 horsepower.
Chevrolet HHR is a fuel miser! - All LS, and 1LT models are powered by a standard 2.2L DOHC ECOTEC engine that puts out 149 hp at 5600 rpm and 152 lb.-ft. of torque at 4200 rpm. This engine also delivers excellent fuel economy — an EPA estimated MPG city of 21 in HHR models and 20 in HHR Panel models, and 30 MPG highway in both models with the standard manual transmission. With the available automatic transmission, this engine produces an EPA estimated MPG 22 city, 30 highway in HHR and HHR Panel. Both transmissions give you a highway driving range of up to 480 miles.
- The low-maintenance engine features an aluminum block and cylinder head with a lightweight composite intake manifold and Electronic Throttle Control. It also uses long-life coolant, designed to last for five years or 150,000 miles, and long-life spark plugs, designed to last for 100,000 miles.
Brand new 2008 Chevrolet Aveo SVM starting at under $10,000. - Aveo's standard 1.6L engine and manual transmission get an estimated 24 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.
- The 4 speed automatic transmission also fares well with an estimated 23 mpg city and 32 mpg highway.
