WHAT IS THE VOLT?
The 2011 Chevrolet Volt is a front-wheel-drive, four-passenger Electric Vehicle  with an engine generator. It uses electricity as its primary power source and gasoline or E-85 ethanol as its secondary source to power the vehicle.

Volt benefits include energy diversification, reduced oil consumption, and reduced emissions. |

Chevrolet estimates that the Volt will save about 500 gallons (1,892 liters) of gasoline based on 40 miles of daily driving and 15,000 miles annually. For drivers that commute 60 miles (96 km) per day or 21,000 miles annually, about 550 gallons (2,081 liters) of gasoline could be saved.
Thanks to instantaneous torque, the Chevrolet Volt is a fun-to-drive car with quick acceleration.

Chevrolet and OnStar will unveil the auto industry's first working smartphone application that will allow Chevrolet Volt owners 24/7 remote connection and control of vehicle functions and OnStar features Tuesday, January 5, 2010. OnStar's Mobile Application will use a real-time data connection to interact with the Volt and perform tasks from setting the charge time to unlocking the doors. OnStar's Mobile Application will be available for the Droid by Motorola, Apple iPhone and Blackberry Storm smartphones.

Detroit-Hamtramck will be the final assembly location for the Volt, using tooling from Grand Blanc, lithium-ion batteries from GM’s Brownstown Township battery pack manufacturing facility, camshafts and connecting rods from Bay City, and stampings and the Volt’s 1.4L engine-generator from Flint. |
